Pooh sticks. There are no reservable bike spaces on any of the trains before 0930. That's a fat lot of use isn't it Scotrail?
We could just turn up at the station with our bikes but if it turns out that a few other people have had the same idea as us we may not get on.

I think it depends on the route of the train. Edinburgh-Aberdeen needs booked, Edinburgh-Dundee or the Fife commuter trains don't - you just turn up.

Worth finding out if they'll waive any limits on the day ...

I have emailed Scotrail customer relations. I don't expect it will make any difference though...

Might be worth calling them.

New problem!

I just checked the LEPRA website and now it says the 25th of June.

There are NO TRAINS arriving in Edinburgh from further North before 0940 and the ride leaves at 0845.

However, the answering machine message for LEPRA specifically states Saturday the 24th. I've left a message asking them to get in touch and confirm the date.

Either way, my parents might be racing that weekend, which would mean that the trailer drop-off option wouldn't be available. I'll try to pin them down this evening.

Oh. And having checked, there isn't a train that we can get into Edinburgh at that time on a Saturday, either. They all require a change at Dalmeny or Inverkeithing - and the second part is by bus.

The site says Saturday 24th, Sam. Maybe they changed it after your e-mail.

Well all the bumph they sent says the 24th. So that's what day we're going.
We are going to drive into Embra and leave the car there overnight and then get the train in on Sunday morning to go and pick it up. The train plus bike option is just asking for trouble I've decided. More's the pity.

Where in Embra are you going to leave the car, Mrs P?

It is definitely the 24th. I spoke to Ros. She suggested joining the ride at Inverkeithing  !

The incorrect info was on the LEPRA North website, Gordon.

So, is everybody still going then?

Pingu appears to be developing his bi-yearly man flu. I hope he is better in time or I'm stuffed. :?

Noggin's going. We're planning on it, although it looks like we might have to ride 25 miles just to get to the start!

If you can get hold of a boot rack we could probably put your bikes on the back of our car......

It's all right. Frood wants to turn the thing into a century anyway. We'll sort it out one way or another.

Anyway. Where would your bikes go?

I shall bear that in mind, thanks Mrs P.
