67 miles.

Scroll down, it's a way down the page. Haven't got any further details about entrance fees or sponsorship requirements - Noggin's the man to ask.

It's worth doing for the ice-cream van at the top of cleish hill (which is no great shakes) and the church hall at Freuchie (after a ruddy hard short sharp hill somewhere in deepest Fife) the tables in t' hall groaning with goodies.
Luvverly run through mid-Fife on back roads I never knew existed.

Well run(apart from Embra polis doing less than nuthin' to help 800 cyclists thro' lights from back of Wavereley to Queensfeery Road  )

Enjoyed it a lot

First time biked over Road Bridge as well :)

For a moment I thought that would clash horribly with the Scottish Traditional Beer festival but now I see that's on 8-10 June so no worries there. :P

You need to post that as an event Mrs P.

I've done this ride quite a few times now (had some nice company last year!).

There has been no fee for entering, but LEPRA say that there will be if you don't enrol by a specific date.

However, I have never been challenged as to whether I have enrolled or not. Just turn up and ride, if you want. Send off your British Pounds collected through sponsorship or give a donation.

I know everybody can't do it, but my suggestion is to get to the front at the start. There are quite a few traffic lights on the route out of Edinburgh, and as noggin said, the police have not been very helpful these past few years. If you start at the back, you'll be about 30 minutes behind before you've left the town.

Watch the hill after the ice-cream van, it's not easy taking the right hand bend with a 99 in your hand!

I'm not sure if I'll be doing it this year, my return to the UK is scheduled for the Friday before so I don't expect to have much fitness; but you never know.

Ah yes. Always tempting, always clashes (near enough) with Dr RJ's birthday ...

I'm thinking about doing this now. Quite fancy just getting the train from my folks' to Embra and then biking back to my folks from St Andrews. However, I don't know how feasible the train option will really be....

The start of the ride is just around the corner from Waverley Station, if that's any help.

Where are your folks, Mrs P? I know you've told me before but I've forgotten.

We're going to be organising our own transport back from St Andrews and might be able to assist.

You can get a train from Glenrothes to Embra. Gorn. Register. We'll sort something out.

I'm doing it on fixed!

You are not allowed now to tell me that this is a horrendously bad idea.

Pooh sticks. There are no reservable bike spaces on any of the trains before 0930. That's a fat lot of use isn't it Scotrail?
We could just turn up at the station with our bikes but if it turns out that a few other people have had the same idea as us we may not get on.

Well I had been planning on taking the train.

Scotrail don't do reservable bike spaces because generally you just turn up.

What I might do is contact them as a member of the League/Sorority Board and see if they would be willing to make an exception in light of there being a charity event.

If not, I guess we'll either have to be completely insane and ride to the start (!) or drive over there.

Hurm. My mother had asked me to register her and Dad for the ride, but having been out with her at the weekend I don't think she'll be fit for it. So there might be scope for getting someone to drop us off over there.
